Ni hao Everyone!
Next school year I am going to China as an exchange student for a year. This has long been a dream of mine and so I am extremely excited! This has come as a surprise to many of my friends and family because on the outside I tend to appear quite innocent and quiet, but I also have this desire to pursue my dream of living in another country and extending my social network halfway around the world. The application process has been pretty crazy and very exciting, but I think that everything will begin to cool down soon. My parents are happy about that! Many people have asked me if my parent's are okay with me going to China. While my parents are very supportive of my deep desire to experience another culture, they remind me that there will be many hardships of living in China. I understand this, but it does not faze me. This is going to be the experience of a lifetime! I hope you will continue to read my blog so that you can keep in touch with me. Also, on the About Me page you can contact me at the bottom!
One challenging aspect of exchanging to another country is the cost. The cost for my yearlong program in China will be about $13,000. While this is a ton of money, it covers almost all expenses associated with the year including international flights and travel in China, placement with my host family, orientations, school, medical coverage, and monthly contacts with AFS. I applied for and happily received a Global Leaders Merit Scholarship for $3,000 and I am trying to raise half of the remaining tuition cost myself by fundraising, and working. And so I am humbly asking for your financial support to help make my dream a reality. Every little bit that you can contribute will get me closer to my goal and I will be so grateful. To sponsor my AFS program now, please click the ChipIn button. May it all come back to you ten-fold.
